Don’t complain about your job – at least you have one. Remind them that their identity is not what they do at work – they are still a whole person who deserves respect. Tell them what you think they'd be good at including strengths and weaknesses. Discuss topics that may interest them like sports, entertainment, church or community events. Suggest they meet with a career coach and offer to pay for the services. Listen and be a good friend.
