These ups and downs are what the seo marketers call the Google updates. These updates are important because Google is tweaking its algorithm to deliver better search engine results and hopefully to solve problems which are being faced by marketers ie url canonicalization, duplicate content and 302 redirects. In the past months and years, there have been several updates eg Florida, Allegra, Bourbon, Jagger and the latest one at the time of this writing(03/01/2006) is Bigdaddy which has already started about 2-3 months back. These updates are named at webmasterworld.com. You can read more about this latest update on Senior Google engineer Matt Cutts blog at http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/bigdaddyGoogle.Google has several datacenters and when the updates are rolling in, the different datacenters are working on building new results and when everything is stabilised and settled, th Six Things NOT to Say During an Interview I was at the Puerto Rico ICSC show, and while it's the smallest event we
attend every year, the show, with only 259 in attendance, was upbeat and
productive for this extremely cliquish group of dealmakers. As is the case
at most shows, for two days most of the attendees wined and dined at various
parties (I have to thank Thor Equities and Larry Campbell for invites to two
great dinners) and all did a great job of networking, which in reality is
the ICSC's major strength. What I found interesting is that retail sales are
down in PR between 3% and 5% (depending on who you're listening to since
they added a sales tax on the island) but rental rates are up. An
interesting combo. Anyway, for the three days I was there, the low in
temperature was 72 and the high, 86 degrees. While it is true the interview is designed both for the recruiter to ask you questions and for you to get answers to your questions, there are 7 things you should never ask or say during an interview.#1 “So what kind of business do you do?”Arrive for the interview fully equipped with information about the company.. Look online and read news articles about the company so you are aware of the most recent happenings. Review the annual report if it is posted on the company's website. Be prepared to ask questions that prove you have done your homework and can be seen as a viable candidate that is interested in the company.#2 “My long-term goal is to be a beach bum.”The question may have been “where do you see yourself in 10 years?” However, the interviewer expects the answer to revolve around the company. Even if you do not think you will be with the company in 10 years, give a reasonable answer describing your commitment to making a contribution so you can be considered for the current opening.#3 “I don't know how to do that part of the job.”Rather than state a lack of skills up front, list abiliti On the day we left PR, I complained to Ann about it being too hot and after we landed back in Jersey, I started complaining about the cold. I guess Ann' s right about me being a compulsive complainer. Oh, I've been coming to this show for about five years and every year, three to six NEW retailers from the states come to the event who hear how great the PR market is and hope to open the island for their companies. After doing some primary investigation, discovering how high the rents are and seeing the scarcity of space, 60% to 70% drop the idea of opening in Puerto Rico. I can vouch for these facts: Rents are high and vacancy is low, worse than California. But what makes it all worthwhile is high, high sales. People don’t like web pages that take many minutes to download nor do they like distractions in the form of graphics overdone. And this is probably what you will end up with, if you place yourself and your website in inadvertent hands. But there is actually no need for that kind of an experiment if you go in for a web host which also offers web design services. Professional web hosting designs are user-friendly, easy-to-choose, ready made templates that give your website a professional look. These are custom made by web hosts and the user can choose from variety of templates. Made for specific business purposes, such unique designs include reliable professional software, graphic resizing and other flexible options within a template that suits the user’s needs. Once you choose a design template, all you need to do is upload your content. Sit back and enjoy the effect of an eye-catching website. Most companies let you try out the quality of a template for a period and you need to pay for it only after you decide to use one perman On the day we left PR, I complained to Ann about it being too hot and after we landed back in Jersey, I started complaining about the cold. Many overlook the important aspects of communication and get caught up in time wasting. While others go through communication too fast, and ignore details that are productive. Finding the right balance of effective and efficient communication can be the greatest aspect of time management; bringing you to your completed objectives. Unless your objectives are in a vacuum where you are the only one involved, communication is definitely necessary.Among the things required for efficient and effective communication is negative feedback, positive feedback, empathy, and open mindedness. They all help you in communicating to and from others on all fronts, and when you can save time at them remaining effective, you have more time elsewhere in your time management. Better communication means less time wasted. This is the essence of time management, not wasting time.Using both negative and positive feedback, when communicating is pretty important, as they gauge how effective your communication is. They help you both listening and talking. What are you communi Going from the beauty and great climate of PR, I went to the Chicago ICSC show. This is a group that really wants to learn PLUS do deals and this was shown when later that afternoon the Dealmaking area was jammed for three hours with retailers, brokers and developers saying, "Do I have a deal for you." Overall, anyone who attended couldn't complain. I didn't attend the L.A. show in California, but Alyson did, and she said the show with 801 dealmakers present was "OK," but not great. The cocktail format for this show, since it was a one-day event, was different than other shows in that the "cocktail" party was mixed with the actual dealmaking. So you visit a booth and then eat, drink and try to be merry. (Puerto Rico has a cocktail party the night before the show AND then has food as part of the dealmaking. I guess they love to eat.) Everyone appeared upbeat, and there were about 100 exhibitors with most in attendance staying past the closing bell of 4 p.m., so chalk up another successful dealmaking I don't understand the economy, since some days the economic reports are great and the next day dreadful, but I have not been to an ICSC show in years that hasn't been good. It's almost scary, and I don't expect that to change in the near future. But now that I'm not being a contrarian, I guess a recession will start.
