Industry associations help the members in teaching them various ways of doing things that work - The approved methods.

The way, as it is often called may not be the only way and although it may be today considered the right way by an industry association it may not be the right way tomorrow after some entrepreneur like me comes along and finds a new better way. As soon as we do they will copy us and then start doing it that way, which then becomes the new approved way. Still, that may not be the best way either. Think outside the box, continually innovate and go for it.
