How to Start a Reiki Therapy Business - Networking and Communication
No business can survive without communication. But in a people-oriented business like Reiki it's especially important to keep in touch with others - and not just your clients, either. Here are a few networking tips for anyone who's trying to develop a Reiki practice. The best way to marketWord of mouth may be the best way to promote any business. That's why it's important that you get to know, and keep in touch with, as many people as possible who could help you with your business. Basically, these individuals will fall into three groups - potential clients, current clients, and colleagues (other practitioners).Getting to know potential clientsJoin local business and social groups (like the chamber of commerce) to get the word out about your Reiki practice. If your local area isn't that open to alternative therapies you may have to do some explaining, so have brochures handy and develop a short "speech" (no longer than a minute) that you can memorize and recite to people whenever they ask. As they get to know you and receive some treatments they'll be able to do their own "word of mouth" marketing for you. "Nurturing" current clientsKeep in touch with your clients with "reminder" phone calls, postcards, or email messages, and maybe even a newsletter. You should be collecting basic information, like addresses, when they come in for treatments, so it shouldn't be hard to contact them. It can take a little more of your time, but it's worth it in the long run. Keeping current clients is usually a lot easier than getting new ones - especially once they see how much good Reiki can do. Getting to know other practitionersMake a point to join local groups of Reiki practitioners (if there are any). When you keep in touch with your colleagues you can exchange ideas on everything from how to handle business issues to how to deal with difficult people. You can also get - and give - referrals this way (for example, if you meet someone who'd like Reiki but can't commute to where you are). And you may end up in partnerships - for example, taking Reiki to large groups of people that would be too much for one practitioner to handle, or sharing office space. Finally, you can participate in Reiki "shares," where groups of practitioners get together to

Taming the Paper Tiger at Home
Have you ever sat down at the kitchen table with the day’s mail and started sorting it into piles? • bills (you always recognize those first!),• “to read” pile (that’s always the tallest),• stuff to go in the wastebasket (but that’s on the other side of the room),• papers to discuss with your significant other (who isn’t there at the moment), and finally• “I don’t even know how I got this” pile (but you really want to read it!)Then the phone rings -- or the kids come in -- or it’s time to go to a meeting. By this time, you can’t remember which pile is which, and you don’t have time to think about it – so you scoop it up into a bigger pile and put it in the bay window. This goes on all week – in a different place each time! Saturday night you have company coming – and you certainly don’t want your friends and colleagues to think you’re disorganized, so you stuff everything in a drawer…or under the bed.If you can identify with this scenario, you’re not alone. Research shows the average person spends 150 hours per year looking for misplaced information! Certainly nothing creates a crisis in a household faster than when your 15-year-old needs a copy of his birth certificate to get into driver’s Ed class – or the IRS wants proof of that $200 deduction you took on your taxes three years ago –and you can’t find it.Are you looking for a way to stop this endless cycle of clutter and crisis – and be able to find what you want (and better yet, let other members of the family find what they need themselves!)? Here are some principles to help you “attack the stacks!”Today’s mail is tomorrow’s pile. Don’t worry about the piles from yesterday – they’ll take care of themselves in time. Your road to success starts by establishing a “paper management center” in your house – a place to put new papers where you will go regularly to manage your mail. Caution: Make sure it is a place you like to be! If you pay bills and make phone calls while you’re cooking or watching the kids, a corner in the kitchen may be best – but if you only work in solitude, creating a cozy office in a corner somewhere may be more effective. Eliminate everything from your paper management center except what you know you will use.Clutter is postponed decisions?. The key to your new system is to decide now! As you take p
You need to understand that as you program your mind and ask yourself do you accept negative suggestions in your mind and when people say, "Well I can't" or "That's too hard" or "I'll fail" or "Why try" and "Nobody cares", makes a huge difference on how your mind works and your subconscious mind, if your telling yourself that you can't do it and when you have that voice that I call the internal heckler, that heckler inside you that tells you that you can't do it. It is important that you take that voice and turn the volume down and change it around to where "I can do it" and "I'm going to win" "there's plenty for everybody." It is going to make a difference and that is the important thing because your subconscious mind will accept what you program. It will never argue with you, you don't need to put any obstacles in front of it. The bottom line is that you are what you think about. You have the power to choose. Control your thoughts.

When you give you subconscious mind a problem or a challenge to solve, the best time, I have found, is before I fall asleep to think about and many times those ideas will come to me during the next day or while I sleep. The subconscious mind is always working on it. Understand very important though is that your subconscious mind does not respond to force. It responds to belief and acceptance. You need to let it happen and understand how to harness that energy because as you study successful people, successful CEO's, multi millionaires they’re following their gut they’re following their intuition and that is their subconscious mind. It is one of the power tools of the ultra prosperous. Napoleon Hill actually calls it autosuggestion or self-suggestion that it needs to reach your subconscious mind. He relates your subconscious mind to a garden. Are letting weeds grow? Are you letting desirable crops grow are you neglecting your garden?

Now let's spend some time on self-discipline. Now we've heard that self-discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. Studies show that willpower is actually like a muscle. The more you exercise it, the more you use it, the stronger you get it. Let me give you a study. This study was done with college students. They put them in front of a table with a bowl of radishes and a bowl of chocolate. Half the students were told to restrain from eating the chocolate and to eat the radishes and the other half were able to eat the chocolates. Then they are asked to complete a puzzle. Now this puzzle was impossible to solve but they wanted to see how long they would work at it before they gave up. Now the ones that used their self-control and their willpower and their self-disciple not to eat the chocolate and eat the radishes, gave up much sooner. Those that were able to each the chocolate and not exercise their will power, worked at it much longer.

So when you are ready to make a choice there are three "R's" that you need to think about. Reflect about the issue, obstacle or challenge that you are having. Research your options, ask other people, and then react. Go out there and do it, change your life and reach exponential success. Because as you look as procrastination and the things you are avoiding and the habits in your life, you have to realize that your life right now is an accumulation of the choices, habits and decisions that you've made. Your habits will determine your future and your success. Many times when we look at our eating habits, our exercise habits, or failure to save money, the challenge is many times we don't see the results or the consequences of those actions until twenty thirty years down the road.

Here is the key; you can't change your habits you need to replace your habits. If you have a bad habit of watching too much TV, replace it with reading and listening to motivation tapes. If you have a bad habit of eating, you can replace it with exercise or something more productive. So take a look at your habits and create an action plan to replace those habits with more productive habits. I'm excited for you as you go down this path of exponential success. Five Tips For A Successful Job Search
Everyone who is on a job search has different preferences – however, for practical reasons, your job search can’t be longer than what is reasonable. Unfortunately, many job seekers aren’t aware of the intricacies involved in the recruitment process of any organization which can result in longer job search lead times. The second unfortunate thing is that a good percentage of these job seekers have wrong ideas, or worse yet, overestimation of their skills and abilities. This can result in total failure at the prescreening stage.1. Always Begin With Self-Assessment: This is equally applicable to those seeking subsequent job changes as well as new candidates. Your self-assessment should tell you more about your character type, your job preferences, willingness to take responsibilities and abilities to take risks, as well as whether you are a leader or want to tread a safer path. It should also shed light on your salary needs, in addition to your skill sets and experiences. This includes revelations on your perception of life and your job, the job security you need, ability to multitask and motivate employees. If you are brutally honest in your self-assessment, it will help you acquire those skills that you lack and target your resume to those jobs that call for matching abilities.2. Research The Job Market: This is not about just looking at the classifieds in different media, but categorizing them to analyze later as to how many of them match you to about 90-95%. If your tabulation is skewed unfavorably, try and find out the reasons, which could be anything from your ambitious expectation of salary, mismatched skill/age/experience or location preferences. This is what they call the proverbial pin pointing of the problem. Once you identify it, it becomes easier to deal with realistically.3. Choosing a Career Field: Although this is broadly decided through your education, you need to identify your niche to choose a field and narrow down your job search. Bear in mind that your chosen field probably has prospects and growth potential within the industry to make room for future job changes. For example, choosing to be a cost accountant has a higher scope in every respect than a broad-based job search for an accounting position.4. Improve Your Job Search Skills: Student counselors and HR cou

    Customers…The Other White Meat
So, you have a business of some sort. It could be selling medical equipment, pencils, pumpkins, your services or whatever, what your selling is really of little importance. What really matters is what your customers think about what you're selling. But before you can even consider caring about what your customers think about what you're selling, you have to give some serious consideration to how you're going to obtain these customers in the first place.I once worked for a chain restaurant (that most of you have probably heard of) in a small town with little competition. You would have thought this restaurant was the last place on earth to grab a decent dinner, because on weekends the hillbillies would line up at the door and wait for a couple of hours to eat dinner. It was crazy a crazy thing to be a part of, but it isn't normal. It's like I used to tell my boss, "if you're the only horse in the race, its easy top be number one." The problem that many business owners have is that they aren't the only horse in the race, and therefore customers are a bit harder to come by. Depending on your business, you may have to make cold calls, buy email lists, hire salespeople, and/or do the selling yourself. The bottom line is that you must find customers. And once you find these customers you want to focus your efforts on keeping them. The best way to keep these customers that you've worked so hard to acquire is to simply take care of them. They need to know that your business will do everything possible to keep them happy. I own a safety equipment distributorship that has been in business for a little over twelve years. I haven't actually pursued safety equipment business in the last five years, but I still take care of my loyal customers. I make money, to this day, off of work that I did ten years ago. Why is that? Because I've always taken care of my customers, and these customers trust my company. They know that we will never do anything to take advantage of them. The bottom line is that if you treat your customers' right, they will reward you with their business. In a way, it's one of the golden rules, simply worded a little differently. Do unto your customers as you would have them do unto you. Follow this rule, and you and your business will be all right.

How To Be Sure Your Internet Advertising Campaign Is Getting Results
Here’s my favorite thing about marketing on the internet… the ability to generate INSTANT feedback on the effectiveness of my advertising. If I wanted to do advertising using traditional methods, I’d need to spend thousands of dollars printing & mailing advertising that may or may not be effective. I won’t know until weeks later, after the sales start to roll in. (Or worse, after they DON’T roll in!) Not so with the internet. You can know in a matter of hours, not weeks, whether your internet advertising campaign is effective. Then you can use these results to make it even better. If you buy online advertising to drive traffic to your site, you can measure EVERYTHING, and quickly learn what works and what doesn’t.The best way to continually improve your website advertising is to provide A-B Split Tests on everything you do… your ads AND your landing pages. (Landing pages are the pages on your website that your ads point to.) Then carefully track the results. One of your advertising ideas will usually prove to be significantly better than the other. The better ad is now your “control” and you can create new advertising ideas to serve as “tests.” Pull the poorer performing ad, and replace it with your new advertising campaigns. Then test again. If the new internet advertising campaign beats your control, it stays, and the old control is replaced with a new test. This will help sharpen your advertising, and begin to discover trends that work. You can even use the data from your advertising testing to improve advertising ideas, and then confidently run these newly polished in print publications. You should conduct the same type of A-B Split Tests on your landing pages. Test different headlines. Test different ways of collecting information. Test colors. Test ad copy. Then measure the results, to see which page produces more results. When you buy website advertising, you can usually request that they point your ads to multiple landing pages for testing purposes – don’t be afraid to ask.

5 Effective Work Habits For Fresh Graduates
Being new in the working world, I am sure you are eager to show off your newfound skills and knowledge. However, out there in the working world some basic work effective habits can increase your productivity. By being consistently effective at your work increases your chances of success in your career. The 5 effective work habits are:1. Volunteer for Assignments One of the best ways to signal that you are a keen learner and are not afraid of hard work is to volunteer for assignments. Especially assignments that no one seems interested to do. However, before that do assess your own skills and knowledge to see if you can confidently accomplish it. If you are confident in completing the task in full and perfection, go ahead and volunteer for it. However, do remember one thing. Under promise and over deliver on the assignment you volunteered. Do not be too confident that you turn a perfect opportunity into mess. Once you start the project, see it till the end. You would be seen as someone who is courageous enough to take on additional assignments. You would also be seen as someone who follows through in your work. This is the first habit you need to internalize.2. Be Nice to People I am sure we have all heard this often enough. Be nice to people regardless of their rank and designation. It sounds philosophical but when you are nice to people they go out of their way to help you. And being new in an organization you would never know what sort of help you would need. Colleagues often like to work with nice talented people. When you have this effective work habit you increase the chances of people wanting you to work on their team. Being nice to people is just common courtesy. There is nothing extra ordinary about this particular habit that you need special skills. A smile in the morning and a “Good Morning” is a good start. In this day and age, people working in pressurized environments often use stress as an excuse when they blow up. Is this necessary? Nice is often reciprocated by nice. In fact, it can lower your stress level.3. Prioritize Your Work We all love to start work on things that are close to our hearts. However, often these may not be the most urgent and important in our list of tasks in the workplace. When you select things you are more interested in rather than wor

You can with this game, you can become what you want to become but give yourself permission, program your mind, look at your habits and find your purpose in life. Many of you already know your passion, your purpose in life. What you need to do change yourself and to change the world. If you don't know don't panic. It is like sculpting, a little bit at a time. Or you can write a statement of purpose, but figure it out. Live your life with purpose. When you find that purpose it will increase your confidence.

One of the great exercises you can do is actually make a victory list, things you've accomplished in the past when you've had that courage and confidence to succeed. You know it has been said everyone is born unique, but most of us die copies. As Victor Franco said in Man's Search for Meaning, I think the meaning of our existence is not invented but rather detected." That is what I want for you. Detect your purpose in life. What do you want to be, what do you want to accomplish? Get on the road to exponential success and you'll see a big difference in what you are able to accomplish and your happiness and your willingness and your ability to change the world. Understand what Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Take the first step in faith; you don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." Part of that faith is believing without seeing and knowing you are able to accomplish this, and seeing your future. So get committed, keep the promises you make to yourself and others. Work on that willpower. Watch the words you use. Don't say I'll try, or I could, I hope, I might, I wish. Say I will, I can. Program your mind for success. As Vince Lombardy says, "The quality of your life will be determined by the depth of your commitment to excellence, more than any other factor." So what are you committed to, really committed to? What are you willing to sacrifice to achieve that? Make sure the commitments we make in a moment of excitement have the sustaining motivation to take us to the next level. Your commitment needs to be stronger than your moods. I'll repeat that, make your commitments, what you want to accomplish, where you want to go, stronger than your day-to-day moods. You'll have bad days; you'll feel like not doing the things you know you need to do. Find the commitment, find the courage and do it. The wealth, the success, the relationships, the teams, the mentors you need are around you. Find them, look for them and be careful you don't fall into the acres of diamond syndrome.

I hope you've all heard the story of the acres of diamonds. It all goes back to 1870 when Russell Conwell heard this legend about this prosperous Persian farmer Alehafed. He had heard great stories about diamonds and the mountains and distant seas and that you could dig and become very very wealthy, so what Alehafed did, was desert his own fruitful farm to search for immense wealth and mythical diamond fields. He searched far and wide he roamed he became footsore and weary and spend all of his wealth. His use and his youth and his wealth disappeared. He died far from home, old disillusioned and poor. Not long afterward acres of fabulous diamonds were found on Alphabet’s own land. Right under his nose. It is important to understand that your diamonds are not if faraway mountains or distant seas, they are in your own back yard if you will dig for them. They are close. The people you need, the contacts you need to have, the skills you need to have are right there. Look and you will find them.

Find successful people around you, those that have reached exponential success. Listen to what they have to say and do it. This reminds me of a story told in Chicken Soup for the Soul. One night a group of nomads were preparing for the evening when suddenly they were surrounded by great light. They knew they were in the presence of celestial beings. With great anticipation they awaited a heavenly message of great importance that they knew must be especially for them. Finally the voice spoke. "Gather as many pebbles and you can and put them in your saddle bags. Travel a day’s journey and tomorrow night you will find you are glad that you listened and took action." After having departed, the nomad shared their disappointment and anger with each other. They had expected a revelation of great universal truth
