    The first Energy Point can be found in your body at the base of your spine. This is the area where we house all of our ‘family’ and ‘security’ energy. It is literally about being supported in life.

    The irony is that so many of us turn to the outside of ourselves to determine whether we are strong and secure. We look around to see how our family is treating us or what our material possessions look like, and then we place a judgment on ourselves that usually has to do with lack: everything is not ok; I ONLY have this.

    Your energy will reveal your relationship with this first point. Physically, it’s helpful to check in with yourself: do you experience any type of lower back or leg pain? Do you use food for comfort or to get grounded? Are you denying the use of your home as a sacred space?

    If you are experiencing any pain in your back and leg area, this is your body speaking to you. Something needs to be said in terms of speaking your mind to a family member or someone that may be tampering with the sacred space that’s your home. This conversation must happen in order for you to move forward and beyond the position you are in now. Otherwise you will continue to experience the pain AND the situation that is causing your energy distress. Not a fun way to live!

    If you are using food for comfort or to get grounded, you are trying to control your security through a false source. The logical side of us knows that safety and security through food is only temporary. The emotional side of us doesn’t care and wants what it can get now. The trouble is in the wheel that then gets created between “I want”, “I deserve this” and “I feel guilty” or “I can’t ever lose weight.” The thing about a wheel is that it will keep turning unless you do something differently to stop it.

    If I could package family support and a sense of security, I’d be the richest woman on earth! I can tell you over and over that these are only feelings, but really it comes down to what you are willing to do to be the master of your energy – starting with this first point.

    So, when you hear that old voice in your head, pain in your back or reach for the usual ‘comfort food,’ know that your energy is speaking to you. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but our habits work to create a false sense of security. That’s their job. They see change as a threat. Our energy wants us to soar and succeed, starting with an authentic ability to be grounded in our body and our home – which is why you feel the discomfort or pain. Isn’t it time you started listening?
