Leisure & Recreation Market in the UK
Leisure time is more important than ever before. It is increasingly likely that both partners in a household are working full time; commuting adds to the burden of the daily routine, whether to school or to work. There is also the increasing danger of sedentary occupations, producing the demand for active leisure or ‘recreation’. More working time is spent every year sitting in front of a computer terminal or on the telephone, followed by driving home or sitting in a train. At home, the temptation is greater than ever before to sit in front of the widescreen television, with its superb picture and sound, or to spend hours on the Internet or playing electronic games. To satisfy the demand for activities that break into the sedentary patter
I was having breakfast at a local restaurant the other day when I noticed on the table there was a bottle of hot sauce with the restaurant’s name on it. I was impressed because I knew this was no chain – it is just a small independent restaurant who was taking advantage of private labeling. It is one of a growing number of small restaurants that enhance their brand by putting their own name on products.

First, let’s be clear about what I mean by Private Labeling. According to Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia, private label products or services are typically those manufactured or provided by one company for offer under another company's brand. So this covers everything from Wal-Mart brand products to the small restaurant putting their label on someone else’s hot sauce.

It is amazing the number of businesses now that are engaged in some form of private labeling. Restaurants, hotels, spas, hair salons, even car dealers are all putting their own brand on products such as hot sauce, lotions, shampoos, coffee, lip balm, bottled water and wine. Many corporations want to put their own logo on products that they giveaway to reinforce their brand. The corporate gift market is particularly busy around Christmas. There are also many small businesses that want to appear more professional by having their own brand of products to sell – coffee and bottled water are particularly popular here.

    Getting Started

So as manufacturer how do you get started selling your product via private label? The easiest way is to just start selling to other local companies. If you sell coffee then start with the local caf?s and donut shops – many companies are happy to support other local companies, particularly if they can get their own brand name on the products. Tough Guys Make it Online!
Are you planning to start your own internet business? Have you seen all those fancy sales pages that promises you millions for nothing and life for free and decided to jump on the wagon? Great! But did you know that close to 95% of all internet entrepreneurs fail? Did you know that only a very few people on the internet actually makes more than 500$ a month and that only a fraction of all internet marketers are able to make their living online and even fewer make a six figure income? If this doesn’t scare you off you must be a tough one – and you have to be tough to make it online. Not tough in a “mean” way but you really need to have the dedication it takes to keep on going, even in times when you feel like crawling backwards through a s

    Restaurant Businesses for Sale
If you have been hunting for businesses for sale, you have probably noticed that there are more restaurants for sale than any other business. Why are restaurants one of the most popular businesses on sale? It may be because there is a big market for restaurants. Or it may that these restaurants are being sold by their owners because they are not bringing in enough money to stay afloat. Actually, both reasons are right. There is indeed a big demand for restaurants, especially good ones. However, there is also a high failure rate in the restaurant business, and many restaurateurs want to sell their business before it fails. If you are planning to become a restaurant owner, you must consider a number of issues such as these. There are

Medical Billing - Hiring A QA Tester
In our last installment of medical billing, we looked at what was involved as far as the software company hiring a programmer to create their software that will eventually be sold to the public. But programmers aren't enough because the software needs to be tested. The truth is, programmers make lousy testers because they are biased. That's why the software company needs to hire QA testers to make sure the software works as it should. So what should a medical billing company look for when hiring a QA tester? What follows is a list of a few things that you're going to want.Unlike other industries, QA testing medical billing software is a whole different animal. The reason is because you are dealing with a number of functions rather

The Details Dance: A Simple Three-Step for Event Planners Wanting to get Online Registration Right
A couple of weeks ago I attended an event planners Christmas function. The turnout was decent, there was no shortage of skewered prawns or celebratory cocktails and a good amount of effort had gone into the costumes worn by circulating serving staff.A few minutes into it however, I noticed one lady propped on a bar stool, looking tired and unimpressed. An ex-planner, with a career lifetime in the industry, she commented "They always get it wrong with the music at the beginning of these things". She was right. The funk band on stage was a class act, but the evening's organizers had given no thought to warming up the crowd, so this prematurely loud performance meant an empty dance floor and more than one headache. This kind of got-it

Obviously, your existing customer base would also be a good place to start. You can offer to put their name and logo on the labels that go on your product.

Once you have a few private label customers you can then start a formal “Private Label Program” giving prospects examples of what other companies have done. One important point to note is to be sure to make it as easy as possible for your customers. You should offer to do all the work for them including the labeling, so they will just receive the finished product. You may end up having lower margins on your private label products, but you can make up for that with increased volume.

You don’t have to do it alone in your private label venture; there are plenty of resources out there to help you. There are two main publications that you can read:

    Private Label Magazine – http://www.privatelabelmag.com
    Private Label Buyer – http://www.privatelabelbuyer.com

There is also a national organization – the Private Label Manufacturers Association (http://www.plma.org) that puts on a big trade show every year just for the private label industry.

A simple search request for “private label” on Google brings up over 10,000,000 pages. Add your industry to that search and you will have a wealth of information more specific to your needs. For instance, the search “private label coffee” brings up over 13,000 pages. You should do this to see what your competitors are doing in your industry, which actually could give you many ideas.

The labels are a key component to your private label program. You should choose an experienced label printer preferably with digital label printing capabilities. This advantage of digital label printing is that you can offer small qua
