    Overcoming the Nasty Pirate
My friend took his son Tommy to Disney-land, hoping for a photograph with Captain Hook. But just as it reached Tommy’s turn in line, the photo session ended and Captain Hook stalked off making gruff noises suitable for a pirate.Little Tommy broke into tears.Another Disney cast member came along to soothe the boy, gave his parents vouchers for a free dinner in the park and took some additional information. When they returned to their hotel room that night, a colorful card was waiting on the pillow with a picture of Peter Pan on the front. Inside was a handwritten note:Dear Tommy, Captain Hook can be quite nasty sometimes. After all

    The Power to Succeed
It’s amazing how we fool ourselves... while at the same time believing we are doing what’s best.Let me give you an example. I overheard a guy telling a group of friends, over drinks, how he had become fed-up with work. Guys being guys, they immediately started to come up with options to fix the problem – ideas like changing company and changing jobs. That was when the guy got all logical…‘Yeah, but I need to pay the mortgage and my kid’s education and we’ve got a holiday planned for the Bahamas and…’I interrupted. ‘How much do you need?’‘A hundred grand a year,’ he replied.‘What’s more important,’ I asked, ‘your happiness
It’s great to be multi-skilled…be able to type your own correspondence, do your bookkeeping, answer all phone calls, prepare your PowerPoint presentations, organise your own travel, seminars, pick up and send your mail, pack orders, do your own marketing, do all the photocopying, ring your clients and prospects. However it may not leave you with enough time to focus on what really matters.

When you first start out in business, you will no doubt do most things yourself, yet to continue trying to keep control of every task that needs doing by handling everything yourself, you’ll never be able to grow your business successfully. You’ll run out of time and also be limited by your own skillset.

The same applies when you commence a new management role, you want to make a good impression and show that you are capable of handling all your responsibilities without asking for any assistance. That’s fine if you can manage doing that effectively and maintain your sanity. However, if you are having difficulty and suffer in silence, other people…your team, colleagues and clients will eventually notice anyhow.

Delegation: One of Your Best Management Tools
Managers should avoid the tendency to constantly delegate to the same one or two capable individuals. This practice only overloads the best personnel while slighting all others. As with delegation in general, there may be occasions in which work must be divided among several individuals for example, highly technical or complex tasks. Should this be the case, the rule is always — delegate the maximum amount of work to the lowest possible level.Whenever possible, managers should delegate a whole task to one person rather than divide it among several individuals. Delegating a whole task increases an employee’s initiative, encourages greater attent

How To Become An Expert - And Why
Do you remember the old ads, "When E. F. Hutton speaks..."?Of course, the idea was that E. F. Hutton could offer expert advice on investing, and that it was good to listen to experts before making such an important financial decision such as investing your hard-earned money. Most of us realize the value of listening to, or getting guidance from, an expert before we enter into important changes or projects. In fact, a whole new breed of "experts" is emerging due in part to the internet and internet marketing programs. Just what are these people experts on, and how do YOU become an expert? Why would you even WANT to be an expert?at needs doing by handling everything yourself, you’ll never be able to grow your business successfully. Delegation: Decisions, Decisions, Decisions, oh' What to Delegate
DECIDING WHAT TO DELEGATE: Once the benefits of delegation are established and obstacles removed, the next step in the delegation process is to decide what work can and should be delegated. In general, work to be delegated should adhere to the following guidelines: — It can be handled adequately down the line. — All necessary information for decision making is also available down the line. — The work involves operational detail rather than planning or organization. — The task does not require skills unique to the manager or position. — An individual other than the manager has, or can have, direct control over the task.WHAT NOT TO DELEGATE: There are,

3 Groups of People in the World
In today’s fast paced world there are few people that are enjoying prosperity. I mean true prosperity. I am talking about those people who wake up when they are done sleeping. They are people who can go on a vacation whenever they want to. People who when they shop for a car, they go with the intention of buying a new Ferrari or Porsche. 95 % of the people in this country do not have that kind of lifestyle. Most will fall in to one of the categories below. See which one you fit into, and if you fit into category 3, then congratulations you are truly prosperous.Group 1- People with No Financial SecurityMost people are working harder for less re

Together you will achieve more… more productivity and profit or whatever your purpose is.

When you have people working for you, you’ll find that managing your people will take up a lot of your time.

When you’re at this level you do need some form of assistance whether it be a Virtual Assistant (personal assistants who work off-site in their own business and whom you can hire on as ‘as needs’ basis (see www.asecretary.com.au) or hire a person to assist you on-site whether it’s part-time or full-time.

You may also have a suitable candidate in your office right now who is ready to step in…just make sure they have the skills you require. It’s no good recruiting within your organisation unless the person has the attributes needed unless you are prepared to invest additional time and money to get them up to speed... and even after all that effort, they may still be unsuitable.

One of my clients decided to utilise their company’s receptionist to help him with his workload as she had spare time at certain parts of the day. This
