‘Humph,’ I thought. ‘That makes sense.’<

Only a few months previously had I answered the Invitation to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, turning my life over to Him. This had taken place at a “Full Gospel Businessman’s Fellowship International” desert meeting in Vancouver, Washington.

I had moved to Florence, Oregon on the scenic Pacific coast. From my rear windows of the “Beautiful Beach House,” I could see the Haceeda Head Lighthouse on one side of my view. The Peer and North Jetty were on my other side.

By T.V. remote, I was channel surfing. Upon landing on Kenneth Copeland, I stopped... So did Kenneth Copeland… Ken Interrupted His Believer’s Voice Of Victory Telecast To Gaze Quizzingly Into The Camera – Speaking Directly To Me Personally Via Television.

“Someone has just tooned us in by his television,” Kenneth said. He doesn’t even own a Bible. The young man believes that the Bible has been changed by the translators and over time.”

‘Of course it has,’ I thought. ‘Everybody knows that.’

“Your problem, young man, is that you have never read the Holy Bible. You need to go out and buy a Bible. Get one that is written in our language… No Thee’s and Thou’s… And start reading in The New Testament.

I decide that - after Kenneth had finished preaching - I would do exactly that.

Kenneth Copeland began to return to his message - but he stopped almost immediately to look directly back into the close camera.

“Oh, yes, one more thing… You need to get into a church,” he said.

I don’t recall much of the rest of Ken’s sermon, except a part about a man being saved by reading only a footnote - on one piece of a single page - from a King James Version Bible that he had stuck to him while blowing in the wind.

When the broadcast concluded - I went downtown – found the-open-on-Sunday Bible Bookstore – and purchased an NIV (New International Version) – my 1st Bible. The zipper is broken on the light brown cover that I bought at that same time. Yet - it is still my favorite “Training Bible.” LOL
