    Trade Financing Alternatives
Are you selling goods or services both in the US and internationally? Then you know that finding the right financing tools is critical for the success of your business. Although finding the right business financing for US based transactions is not simple. Finding the right financing for your international transactions can be exponentially more difficult. The most common tool used in overseas transactions is the letter of credit. A letter of credit is a payment vehicle that guarantees payment to suppliers and ensures that clients get th

Close Protecting Celebrities, Is It All It's Cracked Up To Be
Lots of people want to be in close protection to famous people. The truth is, Celebrity Details are probably the most coveted positions, but represent only one small sector of Close Protection.Details can range from accompanying a company MD to a shareholders meeting, to acting as a close protection/personal assistant to a celebrity, to the most dangerous work–protecting Diplomats from terrorist attacks. Most people who desire careers as close Protection have glamorous thoughts about the work. Well. First, if you are a big fan
Conflict resolution is one of the most important skills needed in the 21st Century. Think how often you need to negotiate with people, even on the weekends. For example, on Saturday I started out negotiating with my husband whether or not to go for a run or a walk. We settled on a run/walk. Then we stopped into a garage sale to buy a coffee maker. We dickered a bit over the price. Later, my assistant wanted to change the day she came into work. That took some creative thinking to find a solution. In the evening, we talked with our grown son about vacationing together in November. Should he come here, should we go there? It happens constantly. Yet, few of us learned any formal skills in this area.

Mostly we learned conflict resolution when we were young - from watching the adults in our life. They learned it from the adults in their life, and so on. If the big people had good negotiation skills you lucked out, if they didn't, you get to blunder along as they did. Unless of course, you decide to learn some new skills. Some adults showed us that good negotiation means always having it your way. Conquerors get what they need in life, but may be quite unpopular. Other adults showed us that others should always get their needs met first. Sacrificers are perhaps more loved, but often lose people's respect. Market Research Ignorance
Recently, I was invited to participate in a focus group for women regarding casual restaurants. The panel consisted of eight other young women who frequented casual restaurants enough to be informed on the subject to be able to properly provide information regarding them. The focus group started off well enough - the panel conductor introduced herself, and asked us to do the same. She did this to simply create a better group dynamic, not for record collection purposes. She then proceeded to ask us to write down our top five casual rest

    I Can't Hear A Word They're Sayin
If you use any genre of advertising to attract new prospects, your world is upside down. The popularity of TV, Radio and Print is on a slippery slope. Response to commercials and ads has slipped further. Some blame it on technology like digital video recorders, iPods and satellite radio. You should blame it on the Internet—fast becoming the best place to do business despite a dot.com stumble just a few years back. That cyber behemoth, World Wide Web, is the marketplace of smart business people. Franchise Your Business to Enter an Emerging Market
Franchising your existing business might be the best possible way to take the opportunity to enter emerging markets. Markets like India and China have complicated rules and regulations about who is entitled to own and operate a business there. The best way often to circumvent these rules is by franchising your operation in these markets.By using franchising the franchisee owns the business whilst the franchisor takes a share of the profits. Why does an established business want to deal with headache of red tape and restrictive trade p

    Driving Your New Career
Been thinking about a career change? An often overlooked vocation is that of a HGV driver or LGV driver. This exciting line of work can give great job satisfaction, flexible hours, guaranteed employment and total freedom at work. And did you know, HGV drivers earn up to ?29,000 a year? Over ?550 a week!In so many careers, people find themselves stuck in a rut, not making that promised promotion year after year, and unable to reach the job satisfaction or salary levels they truly deserve. If this sounds familiar to you and your current

Evaders often notice that people don't trust them. It is hard to feel on stable ground with them because their rugs are very lumpy, too much swept underneath.

Good negotiation skills help you to get your needs met, AND those of the other party. This is easier said than done. It requires time and creativity. If the stakes are high enough, however, it is often worth trying to find a win-win solution. As the population expands, resources dwindle. We, as a species, now know how to destroy ourselves, and all other species of plant or animal life in a matter of minutes. The old phrase "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" comes to mind. We NEED to learn to share and get along, or else. Many forms of collaborative negotiation are emerging to meet that need. The most popular is the cognitive approach. This is where the two parties talk things through. However, in practice this method alone usually only provides short-term solutions. It can also be challenging for those who are unable to articulate their thoughts and feelings.

It helps to focus on the impact of other levels of communication. All the verbal skills in the world won't help, if people can't see past their own perspective. Non-
