'Stuck on Stupid' - A Rebuke for Media
In all the finger pointing at the New Orleans’ Katrina debacle, the most cogent accusation was delivered by Lt. Gen. Russel Honore after taking charge of relief efforts.Reporters peppered him about deaths, slow relief efforts, lawlessness and which government officials were responsible for failures.Gen. Honore’s reply is a classic that should be writ on every journalist’s press pass: “Don’t get stuck on stupid!”“

Car Insurance - It's Getting Increasingly Expensive When You're Elderly
There were 550 serious accidents last year where the driver was over aged 70 and where driver was either killed or badly hurt, reports the Institute of Advanced Motoring . That statistic represents 8% of the national total of 7,035 similar accidents. That means that the over 70's's have more, very serious accidents per mile than any other sector of the population. This view is supported by the Association of British Insurers whose re

Just around the corner in Largo is the Largo Central Park. This Park has a large open space that is perfect for flying a kite, letting a toddler run around, and is often used for hosting city events such as movies, art and food festivals and touch-a-truck events. There is a fenced in playground that has three separate climbing structures, and is handicap accessible. Mexican & Americans - Cracking The Cultural Code
Something that I have to be careful of when I write about my experience as an American expat in Mexico is not to come across in my prose as an expat expert. I think I tend to do this, but be assured, it is unintentional. It is easy for any nonfiction writer to get into trouble with this.I took a writer's workshop a few years ago where this warning was discussed. Whenever you write nonfiction, readers tend to regard you as an e

    Project Management - Risk Management
In many projects, risks are identified and analysed in a random, brainstorming, fashion. This is often fatal to the success of the project, as unexpected risks arise, which have not been assessed or planned for, and have to be dealt with on an emergency basis, rather than be prepared for and defended against in a planned, measured, manner. Very early in the preparation and planning stage, it is essential that potential risks are ide

    Protect Yourself Against Identity Theft
Unfortunately identity theft is not a well-known type of crime, but is one of the top rising felonies in the world. Most known cases take place (of course!) in America. The "land of the free" is actually too free when it comes to identity theft. Statistic, one in twenty adults are victims of one or more sorts of identity theft: stolen credit cards or credit cards numbers, social security numbers and other individual ID.Iden

    The Pitfalls of Censorship
About fifteen years ago, a coworker who was a devout Christian wanted me to join an organized protest of a local store that sold pornographic writings."It's detrimental to women", she said. "It promotes gender intolerance and it's dangerous."My first impulse was to jump at the chance. Young and idealistic, I thought that it would be the opportunity to make a statement. It's a black-and-white issue. Pornography is wron

In Florida this park is top notch!

Lastly, Anderson Park off US Highway 19 and John Chesnut Sr. Park off East Lake Road in Palm Harbor are both set off of Lake Tarpon and have boat ramps to access this water. You can boat, fish or canoe here year round. The parks have picnic pavilions as well and great children's playgrounds, baseball fields, and trails for walking your dogs, a quiet bike ride or a morning stroll. John Chesnut Sr. Park also has a large dog park for letting your favorite pet run and play with other animals as well! Make it a day for your entire family!

On the southern end of the county you will find St. Petersburg. A great park in this area is the Bay Pines Veterans Park. Located on the water it is a great location and has everything you could want to make a children's birthday party, baby shower or company event perfect. There are large running areas for playing games, children's playgrounds and covered sitting areas to eat and visit with friends.

The parks of Pinellas County are numerous, well cared for, and some of the best places to visit. Take your family on a cool day and hunt for bugs, see animals in their natural surroundings, or just take the family dog out for a stroll. You won't be disappointed!
