Just Because You Spend a Lot of Money Does Not Mean Your Marketing Will Work
It is amazing the amount of dollars that companies spend on marketing campaigns and even more interesting how few of them really work well. Just because you are spending lots of money does not mean your marketing will automatically be successful. I can certainly remember many of our company’s competitors spend like the Dickens when we would come to their town and market. We would see their advertising, expensive advertising all over the place. But they often spent their advertising and marketing dollars in correctly and wasted their efforts. We simply passed them by like there was no tomorrow. They would go on Cable TV, radio and in the newspaper for weeks on end, you would think it was getting close to election time and they were som

    An Introduction To Wire EDM
EDM refers to wire electrical discharge machining. Wire electrical discharge machining or EDM is a metalworking process with the help of which a material is separated from a conductive work piece, by means of electrical erosion. The wire never comes in contact with the conductive work piece. The wire electrode leaves a path on the work piece, which is slightly larger than the wire. Most often a 0.010' wire is used which creates a 0.013' to 0.014' gap. The wire electrode once passed through the work piece cannot be reused.Wire electrical discharge machining is mainly used to cut intricate shapes and designs into hard metals, which are otherwise difficult to form, mold or manipulate. It is most useful in the electronics and aerospace s

Selling in financial services has gone through enormous changes. In 1986 I vividly recall going for a job interview with an American life assurance company based in the UK. I still remember the language being used by the sales directors. “Punters”, “Close 50% of sales”, “Prospects”, “Don’t leave without a signature”

Effortless Networking - How To Find The Time To Network
Do you struggle to find the time to network, while still keeping your business running?Well, the good news is that networking is not an "event". So you don't really have to "find" the time to do it.Most of us network everyday as a natural part of life. For instance, if you need to find an accountant or a financial advisor, you would probably turn to someone you know for a referral or advice on how to select one.The same approach can be used in the professional context.Let’s say you‘re interested in public speaking opportunities so you can increase the visibility of your business. Your networking objective is to find out how to get selected as a speaker at conferences. So when a client tells you how we

How To Handle A Bad Job Reference
Imagine having to think this to yourself :"Last couple of job interviews I've noticed that I'm not getting any call backs after I submit my references. I'm beginning to wonder if the references my past employers and supervisors are offering are not as positive as I was led to believe they may be. How can I verify what my past employers are saying about me? If it is knocking me out of the hiring process, what can I do about it? What can I do to fix this?"The circumstance described happens all the time. Sometimes past supervisors or co-workers feel inclined to cooperate with your job search by supplying a reference, but they aren't quite as honest with you about the nature of the reference they will actually give to a potential

    Career Advice for the Undecided
Calling all those who are having trouble deciding on what they want to do with their life!If you have ever tried to take those career tests, or work with a career counselor to try and ascertain what you want to do with your career then I may have found some hope for you. For many of us who take these tests or seek out counsel from others regarding our career it is because we simply don't know what we want to do with our career. However, I came across an article in the San Francisco Chronicle that chronicles a new college graduate who found a job building Leogs all day long at a new Lego Park in San Diego. Now I played with Legos as a kid too but I don't think I would want to build them for a living, but that may just be me.Jas

Designed for leaders of professional service firms, the program focuses on management and marketing issues unique to these firms. Namely, the delicate balancing act of ensuring client satisfaction while also leading the firm's talent. The program provides a forum for participants from around the world to apply the concepts and real case studies presented in the

Nowadays, thankfully, his language and those sharp practises have all but disappeared. But here’s the crux of the matter. We’ve gone too far down the regulatory route and many salespeople are forgetting the most important part of the sale…the customer, becoming bogged down in paperwork and red tape. Now my firm belief is that regulations were brought in to protect the customer and to ensure they received an honest, reliable and worthwhile service.

My crusade is to put the customer back on the pedestal. Somewhere where they deserve to stay and flourish. If your product or service is
