This question is highly debatable as there are many pros and cons for both a “yes” and a “no” answer. Even a “sometimes” can be given as a valid solution to this question.

One move that I REALLY enjoy making is to show only one card. I see this quite a lot at tables where players in a heads up pot show their best card and muck the other one. I was playing in a live ?50 tourney a couple of weeks ago and was playing AQu UTG. Long story short, I’m heads up and the turn card gets checked to give a free river. I’ve made an A high flush and this donkey checks it to me. I bet the pot and he folds reluctantly. I show my Q but muck my A, thereby showing my opponent all I had was Q high. This was great as I was able to naturally play my strong hand but show everyone at the table that this is how I appear to play my bluffs too. This guaranteed me a bit of action next time I decided to play a premium hand. My opponent in the example above lost when his AJ fell against my KK. Ha-ha, sucker!

Showing of cards is a big mistake, unless you can justify it by either 1 - putting someone on tilt, 2 - re-enforcing your table image. Even then, you should not be showing your cards very often.
