Cold Calling Alternative - Using Email In Selling
If you’re sick of cold calling or you simply want to supplement your cold calling efforts then you need to be using the amazing power of email.Email is so common of a tool that it is often overlooked especially in the profession of selling. Next time try sending an email instead of dialing that phone to try and talk to someone you’ve never met before.Email has some major benefits over cold calls. The most major benefit is that your prospect can read your email when they have the time and it’s not going to interrupt their day like a cold call would. It also allows them to save your email and get back to you at a later date if you reach them at a time that’s not righ

A Career with the Federal Aviation Administration
A career with the Federal Aviation Administration or FAA might not be such a bad idea, as there is a severe shortage of Air Traffic Controllers right now. The Federal Aviation Administration predicts this shortage to continue and the GAO is stating it could get very serious. In fact some are blaming the Lexington, KY crash on the fact that there was only one air-traffic controller on duty, when really three were needed. The Federal Aviation Administration employee admitted to having his backed turned as the jet got onto the wrong runway for take-off, a runway too short for Jets and mostly used for General Aviation only. Of course it is still pilot error, yet this is one of

    Cover Letters for Nurses
Why are cover letters so important? They provide the prospective employer with a brief review of your skills and abilities in the form of a letter. Letters are written much differently than resumes and can have a lasting impact on the reader. The best news is that writing one it isn’t that hard. An excellent Registered Nurse is always going to be in demand. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Among all of the health care occupations, registered nurses had the highest level of employment—over 2 million.”What does that mean? It means there are more nursing positions in the health care industry than doctors, surgeons and technologists.Nurses, gener

Leading Change - Don't Forecast Heroism
Leading change means making tough calls. There’s none tougher than making the calls regarding the scope, timing and resources of the project. One of the biggest mistakes leaders make is getting happy and caught up in the moment trying to impress the boss and making commitments you’re not able to keep. The biggest problem I see is when otherwise good leaders and managers reach out and forecast what I call ‘heroism’. With the war in Iraq right now we read daily of the exploits of some of our soldiers and Marines. They do some extraordinary things. They are heroes but heroism can’t be forecast, it just happens.I wrote a book called Dead Center about the exploits of a M

Trade Show Promotional Products - Boosting Booth Traffic
I was about seven or eight years old when I learned the value of promotional items at trade shows. I just didn’t know it yet. I was at a home show with my parents. As we walked through the hall it was held in, I noticed people walking around with yardsticks. I really had no need for a yardstick, but seeing them made me want one. So, to make me happy, my parents kept an eye out for the booth passing out the yardsticks. I got my yardstick, and my dad got a deck from the contractor who was passing them out. I use that example to paint a picture that promotional items can and do work at trade shows- although the target audience usually isn’t a third-grader with a $10/week allo
