Plan Out Your 3 Year Vision for Getting Clients (and the Life You Really Want)
In practice building (and getting clients) it seems to be that most self-employed people just hope for the best. They simply keep doing what they’ve been doing and don’t have a strategy for creating the practice they’d be truly and deeply happy with. This is a big mistake in my opinion.I used to write down my goals each year, but it never really worked for me. I just didn’t feel really excited about my new goals. They didn’t seem to propel me in motion and so I kind of viewed them as being useless. I never really looked at them, probably because they se

Loan Officer Marketing: Using Case Studies to Improve Your Credibility
Many people use case studies in their business, but few loan officers use case studies as part of their loan officer marketing materials. If you are looking for a way to differentiate yourself from your competition, a case study may be the perfect answer.A case study accomplishes three things: it identifies a problem; it shows the solution; and it documents your performance. You offer proof of performance with a case study and sway skeptical agents.Effective case studies are structured using a common formula.Three Section Case StudyPicture yourself entering a corporate meeting, team meeting, or business meeting. There you are sitting in the room, while someone in the “expert” or “boss” chair speaks to you or at you. There you are, not aligned with that person’s mission or vision. There you are, feeling apart from the process. There you are, lacking energy and the desire for being there. There you are, hearing what is going wrong and what you or your team or department needs to change or improve. How are you feeling?

Get Your Press Release Opened And Looked At By The Media 100% Of The Time -- Guaranteed
If you want to get media publicity, and if you want a sure fire way to prevent your press release from being ignored or tossed in the garbage, then listen to this:A little while back I interviewed a true marketing genius who has sold over 500,000 special effects cookbooks (i.e. volcano cakes, etc) -- many of which have been sold as a result of using nothing but free publicity. And one of his "secrets" for getting so much media attention is his special way of sending out his press releases.Instead of faxing or emailing them, he puts his press releases in a

    PR: Focus on What Matters!
Sure, as a manager, you have a talented member of the PR team assigned to your department, division or subsidiary, or housed at your agency, and s/he is darn good at placing product and service plugs on radio and in the newspaper. Which may be all you want. And that’s fine.Unfortunately, when your PR folks concentrate primarily on tactical fixes like publicity placements, at least be aware of what you are NOT getting. You don’t get a comprehensive effort that persuades those important outside folks to your way of thinking, then moves them to take actions that he

    How Strong is Your Network
I often hear clients and colleagues say that they wish they lived in or closer to a big city that offers many networking opportunities.I count myself fortunate to live in such a city—and one that has a strong entrepreneurial presence—that offers countless networking opportunities. But to tell you the honest truth, I only belong to one local networking group for women in business. Why only one? Local networking is time-consuming and expensive.I do, however, participate in many other forms of networking. Here are some examples of how you can network, without leav

    Ecological Negotiation
Negotiation is a process of trying to arrive at a mutually agreeable conclusion about something. It could be a sales situation; it could be a behavioral contract; it could be a cease fire. Negotiation is basically an agreement. What makes negotiation’s time consuming is that each party involved often has numerous needs that require some kind of guarantee of satisfaction. Until those needs are at least addressed in some way, there will be objections.Objections are critically important in successful negotiations and taking into account all objections is ecological. That

My experience in my two plus decades of being in business and in coaching business clients around the world is that the system of meetings, clearly, must change. Most meetings don’t include participant involvement and actually serve to tune people out rather than tune them in, and as a result, the intention of the meeting falls short of its purpose. In other words, they really can be a waste of precious company time.
