    Why Buyers Resist And Object
To handle resistance to your ideas and influence, you will first need to pinpoint exactly why there is an objection. Typically, people object or resist because they:• Don’t fully understand your proposal• Misunderstand it• Don’t feel a need to go ahead• Don’t recognise the benefits and advantages• Don’t believe your claims• Are happy to remain as they are• Genuinely need time to think things through• Don’t trust you• Display general inertiaWhat Type Of Resistance?Objections and resistance usually come in three identifiable forms:A condition is a genuine, non-negotiable reason why someone can’t go ahead or agree to your proposal (eg: company policy, legal reasons, a contractual obligation). An exc

    A Guide to Background Searches
Background searches may become necessary on many occasions. Individuals and companies may request a background check as part of pre-employment screening, pre-business screening, bad debt situations, divorce situations, or several other personal affairs. Background searches, though done discretely, cannot be one sided. Amendments in existing law stipulate that the person who is subjected to the search be notified about it. Thus, the employer investigating an employee, a landlord querying about a tenant, or a parent trying to find out about a prospective nanny are all expected to inform the person about the investigation. The person under investigation has the right to dispute the findings in the consumer report.Identity checks, personal references, criminal history checks, drug test record
There's a little known world of free-to-claim products with unlimited profit potential, an Aladdin’s Cave of ready-made products for you to locate in minutes, re-package in hours, and sell as your own. It’s called ‘The Public Domain’ and it means you can legally copy and sell other people’s books, maps, films, and more, with no ongoing fees or royalties of any kind to pay … EVER! Here are ten more things you may not know about the public domain …..

    * The public domain describes books and other creative works, such as photographs and maps, whose copyrights have expired, perhaps never existed at all, and no one has a better claim on those products than you. There are millions of public domain works that anyone can copy and sell, add their own name as author, and even copyright and stop others from selling similar items.

    * Changes made to a public domain product, sufficient to make it a copyrightable product, describes it as a ‘Derivative’ work. Let's say you buy an old book about witchcraft, published in the USA before 1923, so definitely in the public domain. If you publish it 'as is' it's still in the public domain, although arguably a few minor changes to font or pagination, length of paragraphs will render it copyright protected. But tiny changes are insufficient to guarantee your new book is copyright protected. But change the title, add a few paragraphs of your own, include pictures of places witches were thought to exist, update spellings, remove dated terminology, and the book is now copyright protected and termed a 'derivative' work.

Writing The Winning Executive Summary I-What Do The Judges Want?
As the deadline for the 8th Start-Up@Singapore business plan competition is looming near, it will be good to offer some tips for our readers on the first round of the competition. As a former participant, organizer of the Cambridge business plan competition and also a judge/educator now, I have developed the science and art in writing business plans for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to take part in this type of competitions in my own capacity. Some of these thoughts came about by my actual engagement with the investors. By no means is my advice meant to be the be-all and end-all standard for the judges, but most people could use it as a guideline in writing their summaries for the competition. What kind of entries go into my rubbish bin? It’s always intuitive to tell people what c

    Creativity Management and Time Pressure
There is a pervasive belief that time pressure stimulates creativity. This is both true and false. There are a number of forces at work:a) Time pressure increases creative output. By forcing idea production, setting goals and incremental deadlines, a greater number of ideas are produced than if a “do your best” approach is taken. If a leader asks particpants in an idea generating session to address a problem and think of at least 5 ideas every half an hour, then 80 ideas are produced by one individual and 1600 are produced by 20 individuals at the end of an average working day. This level of output is conscious and would not be produced normally.b) Time pressure encourages prolific production and therefore the probability of generating good ideas increases. It can be said with grea

Management: Do You Have A Controlling Personality?
If you manifest what many consider a "controlling personality" then I'm sure that there is a great deal of stress and tiredness associated with such a state. That is because "controlling" behavior is generated by a deep anxiety that relates to you "not being in control" of others and your environment. If you think about this for just a moment, the idea that you might feel powerless and vulnerable to your situation inevitably engenders anxiety and with it a need to stem those feelings inside of yourself.Well, what "better" way than to "control" those factors that are making you anxious, correct? Wrong! Why wrong? Well first because it’s impossible to control everything in your environment. Just try and you'll see what I mean. No matter how much effort you put into it you'll still fee

    * A foreign translation of a public domain work is a derivative work and carries sufficient creativity to allow it full protection of copyright law.

    * The public domain is not to be confused with reproduction or manufacturing rights. Reproduction and manufacturing rights, where, for example, someone gives you a master copy of their book or product with rights to reproduce that item does not mean their copyright is defunct or never existed. Reproduction and manufacturing rights are a concession, usually passed by the product owner, allowing others to reproduce his work, but rarely does copyright also pass to the recipient. Public domain rights last indefinitely; reproduction rights can be time limited or otherwise withdrawn or restricted.

    * Public domain items can typically be amended by anyone, changed, reshaped at will, and copyright belongs to no one. Not so reproduction and marketing rights where the original creator invariably retains copyright and rarely allows others to alter his work.

    * Just because you own the original work, such as a painting or original final draft of a book or piece of music, does not necessarily mean you also own copyright in the item. Nor does it always mean you can make and sell copies of your original product. Recently, on television, an artist explained that he had sold an original painting from which he earned large sums from limited edition signed prints. Asked why he sold the painting and, by implication the reprint rights, he insisted he had only sold the painting, not his intellectual copyright in the item. Someone else has the painting, he has the copyright and subsequent reprint copy marketing rights. His claims were verified by the programme’s legal team.
