Comfortable and Corporate: Leather Office Chairs
There are many choices when it comes to office chairs. Standard office chairs are available in a wide variety of colors and materials for a low cost. An ergonomic office chair that offers adjustable settings and proper lumbar support has become a standard fixture in both work and home offices. However, the ultimate luxury in office chairs is almost always a leather office chair.Leather office chairs are available for purchase through a large number of dealers. They can be purchased “standard” for under a hundred dollars, or can even be custom designed for as much as a few thousand dollars. Leather office chairs are frequently found in the offices of upper management and executives. They are also common items in executive conference and meeting rooms.Leather office chairs are chosen for their luxurious material and the comfort that they afford. They are available in a variety of colors and styles. Many leather office chairs offer special features that employ proper office ergonomics. They offer adequate lumbar support, comfortable seating, and the ability to swivel. Many offer pneumatic lift and height adjustment to ensure that they are a proper fit for a variety of individual body types. It is important that leather office chairs look presentable and guarantee maximum comfort when used for a long time. Most leather office chairs are made from cowhide leather, with vinyl on the outside surfaces to ensure maximum durability. Five-prong swivel bases and dual-wheel, hooded castors are standard features of most leather offices chairs. These features allow the user to turn and glide across the floor while completing workplace tasks. It is recommended to try out several different leather office chairs prior to making a selection. A chair that is ideal for one person may be not be the best selection for another. Because most leather office chairs carry a somewh

Business, Gambling, Investing, and the Risk Associated with Each
"Warriors take chances. Like everyone else, they fear failing, but they refuse to let fear control them." Ancient Samurai sayingThree really strong interest that I have are Business, Gambling, and Investing. Three unique playing fields but they all have the same goal, to increase income. Business, is the most controllable followed by Investing and then Gambling. I find it interesting how many people use these three words interchangeably. Most people will always tell you that starting a business is a gamble thus you are gambling. Investing is risky therefore you are gambling there too. What a joke! Sure there is a level of chance that occurs in investing and business however, both can be won or earn a positive income consistently over time therefore it is not a gamble. In the following paragraphs I set the record straight regarding risk when it comes to business, investing, and gambling.Business requires skill and building a business can be an art. As with walking across the street business can be associated with risk however, that risk is extremely controllable and can be minimized by knowledge and skill. Obviously, walking across an urban highway can be very risky and that risk can be minimal if walking across a highway in a rural town. Just like we can decide what risk we take on by deciding what type of road we want to cross on foot, we can also control risk in business by deciding what business we want to take on and in what industry. We can minimize risk and increase success by increasing our skill in building businesses. Some people with an employee mentality will feel that they have minimized their risk my not starting a business and instead they will get a job.In actuality all they have done is put the risk in someone else's hands. They leave the risk of the business they work for in the hands of the business owner they are working for. However, they a

    Journaling For Fun and Profit!

Have you been journaling for many years ?  Have you  ever considered that the age old tradition of journaling could help make you more profitable in your business life.

Even CEO’s of Fortune 500 Companies today are using journaling for profit.

I have been journaling for several years… In our Small business  office we have a leads journal where all brand new prospective business is immediately written down so we don’t lose it…. Particularly when I get distracted and go off on one of my creative tangents.

I have a daily journal where I write notes on every conversation that I have with a client or supplier as I am having the chat… so I will remember any and all main points, plus my commitments… I have a journal that I write notes in when I am listening to classes or courses so that I can quickly review the information and think about how I want to think about the information.  However, recently I discovered a new twist on the art of journaling.

I was in a class on a Sat. with one of my favorite coaches .  Joe  had flown in from San Diego to spend the day with our group.  He had a rather novel approach to journaling which I have been utilizing for the past month with rather surprising and interesting results.

    Here’s the gist of it.

Joe uses two journals…An imput journal and an output journal..

The input journal is used when listening to tapes, reading a book, generally for learnings and thoughts on learnings..

    The Output Journal :

Step 1/ Make a list of everything on your mind ,  literally, dump it out......put air in the Mercedes tire, buy a new electric toothbrush, pick up fresh vegy's…. And on and boring on…no matter how seemingly small or petty.

The idea behind this is that you dump your load.  Today our minds are in overwhelm, we have so much coming at us… there is no room for more.

I have been practicing this for about 6 weeks now. Just a couple times a week.  It is interesting how it empties the mind.  Ergo the well known zen koan that suggests the tea cup that is overflowing cannot retain any new content, therefore we have to learn to dump the cup before anything more can come in.

What has been interesting about this process is the quality of what comes out on paper after I have dumped the load… I used to have days of challenge with what was happening when I journaled because I would hold  a lot of content in my head  while trying to write about a particular area or subject.

Joe says that the mind is for processing not for retaining content . All that content slows us down as we never stop thinking about it.  So first you dump the load.

Once you’ve  dumped your load and all the great ideas and projects start to pour out you have some decisions to make; you won’t be able to tackle them all.  Sit with them for a time until you  figure it out.. here’s the next step.

Step2:  Note all the one step processes and highlight them in yellow.

Pick up fresh vegy’s is a one step process. Get them done or delegate them. Get the one step projects out of your life because they  take up mental energy and space, blocking your better projects.

All processes with 2 or more steps highlight in green, it’s a project. This is where you have to be picky. It is highly unlikely you will ever accomplish all of your multi step projects.  So you need to develop a system for choosing depending on your values.  Which ones are closest to your heart, or which ones monetarily allow you to leverage your time to create the greatest financial benefit.  You Pick.  This reduces the number of tangents particularly for creative types.

    Surviving Survival
Aren't you tired of sitting around waiting for something to finally happen?I just got off the phone talking with my friend James. We spoke about how his business was doing, and I asked what he planned on earning this year. His response surprised me:'Making money's not my focus now. I don't really think this is the right time--I'm planning to just hold on until things get better.'James is usually pretty optimistic and 'survival' is not part of his normal vocabulary, so I started wondering about others I know: my consulting clients, people who take my DYBO business-doubling e-course, people I meet speaking. One client wrote they had 'survived' last year, but had 'done the unpardonable -- cut marketing.' Another told me, 'Well, we made it. But we cut half our sales force.' And a service provider I know reduced her total payroll from 130 to 75 people in the past six months.Even though Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan has pronounced the recession over, many businesspeople are taking about one thing only: survival. They are hunkered down trying to weather the storm, but they're doing it at the expense of building their businesses. And I believe many companies are unwittingly sacrificing their future. Here's the typical survival strategy: Cut marketing. Lay off marginal employees. Cut sales travel expenses. Lay off good employees. Lay off salespeople. Fire ineffective management. Reduce your prices hoping to attract business. Fire effective management. Hope for anything. Pray for business. Wait for the recession to end.Does any of this sound familiar?Of course survival is not all bad--not by a long shot. There's a 'statistic' reputed to come from the US Small Business Administration, which says 9 out of 10 new businesses don't last five years, or so

Ask Not What You Can Do for the Government; Ask What the Government Can Do for Your Business
Women business owners are increasing substantially, and if they go through the proper channels there are several governmental organizations set up to play a support role in helping those companies thrive. But as many things associated with state and federal governments, a slow-moving bureaucracy can bog down by the process. One of the biggest boons for women-owned businesses came in 1999, when Congress passes legislation that set aside contracts for women-owned companies in typically male-dominated industries. In addition, securing a federal contract can mean millions to a small and growing business. The legislation, however, hasn’t quite worked out as planned.“The number of women-owned businesses is astounding,” Susan Phillips Bari, president of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council told the Associated Press in a recent article. “Our issue is not with the number of businesses, but rather with their access to contracts in the government and private sector.”The federal government’s pledge of awarding 5 percent of federal contracts to women-owned firms fell short in 2004, coming in at 3 percent. In percentages, that may seem like a small number, but in dollars that number translates into the billions. Because of this shortfall, the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce went to court last fall, and won a hearing that demanded the Small Business Administration begin enforcing the 5 percent mark. With the court behind them, experts believe that government contract jobs will increase over the next few years for women-owned businesses. If the government continues its support of women-owned companies, the number will no doubt continue to rise. The latest figures from the Small Business Administration put the number of women business owners at 9.1 million. They have grown twice the national rate for all private companies from 1997 to 2002, with nearly one-third of them c

Computer Rentals: The Best Classroom Computer Training Solution
Save Time and Money with Training: Computer, Projector, and Sound System Equipment RentalsEven if you own all the equipment you need for a computer training session you will save money by using the installation services of a computer rental company. Computer rental companies coordinate everything technical so you can concentrate on the execution of your computer training program.Trainers can become technicians very quickly when training computer equipment doesn't work properly.Training directors know how difficult it can be to 'work out all the bugs' before, during and after each training program.Execution is the key to training results and efficiencies. If 20% of the computers don't work, you can have a training disaster on your hands.Add up all the costs and distractions from your computer training goals. Put a value on your time, say $100 per hour. Now multiply the time you and your staff spent on hardware setup, delivery, installation, maintenance and removal. Keep in mind that all computers need to have the same configuration to maximize productivity. Here is a quick checklist of common tasks that need to be accomplished on every computer training session.1. Install same versions of operating systems and training software2. Install sound system, projectors, printers3. Run network cables4. Tape down all wires5. Connect to network services6. Test each computer7. Troubleshoot installation problems8. Diagnose and fix all problems9. Service equipment during training sessions including having spare equipment available.10. At the end of the computer training, disconnect, pickup and return all the equipment to various locations in your company. How many man-hours would it take for you and your company's staff to accomplish the classroom training setup, service and teardown? He

Processing Recurring Payments: Get Paid in Full by Automating Receivables
In any business endeavor, an owner may encounter multiple sweaty-palmed experiences. Customers may engage in multi-tiered assaults ranging from vehement criticism of a product or service, censure for (the lack of) customer assistance, objection to time lag for delivering said product or service and the airing of numerous other grievances. Of course, an owner realizes that this comes with the precipitous territory of conducting business. However, it remains a humbling experience when interacting with a vociferous client -- an individual who will let everyone know from friends and relatives to the Better Business Bureau about the perceived shortcomings of the business.Perhaps the most daunting situation affecting an "it's not all what it's cracked up to be" business owner is a payment that is late or never arrives. Consider the private school owner who reminds a parent about the monthly fee only to receive this reply: "Just give me a few more days." Think of a construction company owner who rightfully seeks a periodic payment from the client and is dismissed with "I'll pay you when I can." Envision a gym owner who may have to do back flips just to collect on that monthly payment.Whether by choice or even necessity, there seems to exist a bandwagon of customers who may not so easily depart with their money regardless of their responsibility or what is morally right. This lamentable circumstance (i.e., when an owner cannot efficiently collect money that is due) seriously hampers cash flow -- a business' lifeline, crucial to its vitality. When business expenditures outpace revenues (negatively affected by late or non-payments), commercial failure is all but guaranteed. There exists two primary ways in dealing with an undesirable client whose money remains elusive. Many businesses still embrace the collections process -- whether they perform this task in-house or contract with out
