It is still important to find a product you enjoy working with, and then, unless you can develop the product yourself (as in an Information Product) you will need to find someone that has the product available and has a decent affiliate program.

Do a little research on all available merchants before you make your final decision. The merchant should be reputable and have been in business for a decent amount of time. Search on the merchants name, company and product to make sure there is not a lot of negative talk going on about the merchant (or the product).

Last but not least, make sure the commission that is offered is fair. When judging the commission, do a few tests and see how many sales you can get for your advertising dollar. If your commission does a good job of exceeding your expenses, you are well on your way to finding out what a good day job killer can do.
