Top 10 Reasons NOT to Start Your Own Business
Although I spend most of my time evangelizing about the benefits of entrepreneurship, I do want to throw a little reality out there for those who may look at it only through rose-colored glasses. Here are ten reasons why you may NOT want to start your own business:#10: You can't blame your lame boss for your problems. As much as you might have complained about your boss or "Management" in your corporate job, you might find yourself missing the person who takes the heat for big decisions. Whichever success or failure your company experiences is squarely on your shoulders.#9: YOU are all the departments in your business. You must take care of product development, sales, marketing, accounting, customer service, information technology, legal, procurement and shipping. Most of us do not have strengths in all these areas, so you must quickly learn what is necessary to stay within the law and in business.#8: No free office supplies. Did you really ever think about how

Nobody Reads Signs and Other Popular Myths
People don't reads signs, you heard people say it, you have had said it yourself. What is the point of putting a signage strategy in your business when nobody reads them in the first place.Let's look at his popular myth in more detail. Firstly, all retailers have to accept that consumers today are inundated with messages on signs, as a result, the majority are not read. Any sign that looks amateurish, too complicated or is not targeted is, in today's over signed world, rejected by the consumer. This is about identifying your expertise, owning it, and parlaying it into money. How can I be so sure you’re an expert? Easy. Everyone is.Think about it. It’s impossible for any of us to go through life without developing a high level of competence in at least one area, and probably more than one. What is yours?Maybe you cook amazing Mexican food. Maybe you convinced your two-year-old to sleep in his own bed. Maybe you make your own clothes, and could show someone else how to do it, too.Maybe you recently bought a sound system, but first you spent months comparing products and features. Maybe you can do ten basic repairs on your car, or your bike. Maybe you know everything there is to know about Pink Floyd. No matter what your area of expertise, there are people out th

Ford Motor Company and the Gay And Lesbian Community
First the Gay and Lesbian Community said they were boycotting Ford Motor Company, then after some money donations were given and some PR got underway all of a sudden the Gay and Lesbian Community is now endorsing Ford. Why? Well originally the Ford Motor Company had cut back on some of their advertising and some of this advertising was in a Gay and Lesbian news outlet periodical. Now things are patched up with the Gay and Lesbian Community and there is no longer a threat to boycott. I have one question for everyone? Why is this news? What a non-news event simply to propel the Gay and Lesbian Communities PR machine. This is not news at all. Additionally the original attacks by the gay fringe caused a rift with Corporate America and it is as if they are trying to bully their way to get Corporations to submit. That continued tactic is simply going to turn off potential cross over voters to their cause. By attacking brand names and causing boycott issues these groups do not help thei
