Will You Add? - 101 Muscular Ways to Get More Targeted Traffic to Your Sites / Blogs Today!
Just When You Thought You Knew Everything About Your Business ng :D).The most helpful advice I received one day was to always remain a student. Being that I hated school, this statement didn’t go over to well at first. The memory of yucky math problems, boring English lessons, the smelly science classroom had all jogged my memory. Well after I realized that the person giving me the advice was not referring to me signing up for college first thing in morning, my mind was put at ease. What he was simply referring to was a frame of mind.No matter where you are or what you do in life you can always afford to learn something new on a daily basis. If you’re not learning something new everyday it’s probably because you’re simply not looking. You’d be surprised at all the new information out there that would improve your business today.Always looking how to better your product is key to being successful in your own business. It’s called beating your control. The control is your best performing product and you should always be striving to beat it. Not many people understand this concept but it works. And the only way to do this is to remain a student.A good way to practice this concept is to stop talking so much. Start listening to your customers and what they might have to say about improving your product. And don’t take it personal. Whether they know it or not they are helping you in the beat your control process. But if you’re so into yourself and your product that you think you’re customers don’t know anything, than you’ll never achieve the amount of success that you’re hoping for. Remaining a student is all about humility. In fact, I’ll leave you with this quote that always encourages me to remain a student. And it goes like this: Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less. 22. Comment on other related blogs. 23. Make a custom 404-error page for your website. I remember as kid hearing these words on a regular basis. In fact this philosophy was re-enforced so much by my parents in my younger years that it has become a part of who I am today. But, I'm also a businessperson who enjoys earning a living, and in business, our primary goal is to maximize profits. So we have what appears to be an obvious conflict here. How does one remain profitable, let alone increase profit levels if they're giving things away? This really isn't a new concept. In the traditional business world it's been done for years. It usually comes in one of two forms or a combination of both. The first is giveaways that are used to lure customers into making a purchase or as thinly veiled advertisements. We've all seen these tactics. Contests you can win if you purchase a product, free Tupperware for applying for a department store credit card, a pen or a mug for every $20.00 of gasoline from a particular service center. You get the idea. We've also seen large companies and wealthy business owners throw a lot of money and/or resources at "good causes". I'm sure that some genuinely do this for the betterment of society. The skeptic in me though suspects that often this philanthropy is nothing more than an attempt to buy credibility and respect as opposed to earning it.So how does all of this apply to online business and how is a small online businessperson able to capitalize on it? Actually, when we look at the online world we don't have to look very far to realize the potential value of giving things away. In fact much of the technology we use online was "given" to us by a few brilliant people who were more interested in sharing their inventions and ideas with the world than becoming millionaires. It should be noted that many of thes 1. Write and submit articles :). It is a classic, but it works. This will be indefinite traffic stuck in the search engines for you. Do you talk about your products/services? Do you talk about your industry? Do you explain the process of how your products/services work? If you answered yes to any of these questions you are missing an enormous opportunity.Every time someone asks you “What do you do?” and every time someone reads your marketing materials you have the opportunity to:* Interest potential clients * Increase the potential for referrals * Find out about potential strategic alliances * Create recognition for yourself and your business * Position yourself as an expertStop right now and take the time to discover how to answer the question, “What do you do?” in a profitable way.The bottom line is that in general, people are not really that interested in you and what you do (you may have heard this before, start believing it!) What they really want to know is what you can do for them. All of the communication about what you do must focus on the benefits of your products/services, not the features. Focus on how your products/services benefit the people who use them and the results they can expect.Think about the last time you met someone and they told you what they do. Do you remember what they told you? If so, would you be able to clearly explain it to someone else? Your goal is that the people who hear or read your marketing messages remember what you do AND are able to tell someone else. The first step to answering the question, ‘What do you do’ is to define your ideal client. The more specific you are, the more success you will have in building your business quickly and positioning yourself as an expert. The next step is to define what do you do for you 7. I had to.I had to because there was something gnawing at me from the inside that kept telling me that I had to. I'm not trying to be dramatic here at ALL. I finally decided on a rainy Thursday that it was time to start up my own business because I had been led to believe by my parents that owning my own business was the one way that I could never be fired.Hmmm.That was my exact motivation. By hearing that year after impressionable year as a kid, I suppose it sunk in!And guess what...they were right. When I decided I'd had enough of New York and commuting and client presentations in Kansas and Canada, I knew that I had to start up my own business. I was conditioned to do so...so I did. Many people can work their required 40 years in a cubicle wearing golf shirts and sipping cafeteria coffee.I couldn't any longer. Then again, I never was a coffee guy. Tea's my thing.Starting up on my own was very difficult. I suddenly was making zero dollars. I suddenly had to deal with the fact that every waking minute of every day is a minute or an hour that can be spent working...making more money. Learning more things. In fact one of the major downsides that happened when I knew it was MY time to start up my own business was knowing when to STOP WORKING. Left to my own devices, I could forget that I'm still a Dad and a father. Those are huge responsibilities that I take very seriously. So when you start your own business, find balance as fast as you can.And if have NO kids, and NO spouse, then you'd better be working your fingers to the nubs. :) 12. When you start a business, developing one is the first step in promoting and marketing your company. As you write your business plan, it is helpful to make this list to start to develop an idea of who your customer base will be.The first source of clients would your family and current friends and acquaintances. Depending on your product or service, these people may actually become your clients, as well as being family and friends! When making this list, it is important to write down everyone you know- EVERYONE! Not necessarily because they will become your customer, but in Part Two of this article, we will discuss how these people will LEAD you to customers. The following is called a MEMORY JOGGER.
