I find the direct approach works best.
Do these three steps and the traffic will follow. Don't expect fast results but continue to do this and the free traffic they bring will build steadily and will build over time to a very substantial amount. and the amount of back links you will gain can't do any harm either.
5 - Unorthodox traffic generation from offline techniques.
Never underestimate the value of a press release. A well done and well timed press release can get your URL on the TV news programmes into magazines or on the radio. This method can bring a fantastic amount of traffic. My advice is do anything you can think of to get your URL out there. On a personal note a few years back I was promoting a website that sold a steering wheel that would fit on to the Nintendo gameboy, A quick phone call to the Sun Newspaper, ( a UK tabloid for those of you who don't know), followed by a sample got me into their Christmas gift guide, the web visitors and traffic we received sold 3000 items in one weekend ! Another one when I managed to get onto a radio phone in competition. I only managed to mention my URL once but the resulting traffic crashed our server. Be creative the more inventive the better and again the traffic will follow.
There are no secrets to traffic generation just keep plugging away, research on the net.Do something every day to build traffic and it will build until it becomes a self sustaining monster. Enjoy your free unorthodox traffic and all the sales and income it brings.
