    - By all means, do NOT rely on networking as the ONLY means of reaching your goals.


    - Always be completely honest with others. Nobody likes, and no one wants to help a less than upfront individual.


    - Having a sense of entitlement is never attractive. Please don't expect too much from others. Nobody owes you anything. They'll help if they want to help, but only YOU can always help you.


    - Be Patient. Results can come when you least expect them, and they may take time to get to you.


    - Don't mix business with pleasure. This will only create problems you don't necessarily need nor want.


    - Learn to ask the following question: So…."What do you do?" with ease ,and a friendly smile, everywhere you go. However, also think before you network. Sometimes it's very appropriate, but sometimes it isn't.


    - Always be sure to follow up on ANY lead that's thrown your way. Something you might think is trivial or unimportant may just be the big break you've been waiting for!


    - Don't be a user. Yes, that's right-a user. You wouldn't like it if someone only contacted you when they needed something, or were desperate, so don't do the same to others. Keep up with your contacts. You never know when one of your contacts will come through for you.


    -Keep taking classes or quick courses to help you improve your public speaking, social skills, and writing skills. Or any other type of skills you might need to further yourself in your career choice. Also, join networking clubs for the field you're in.
