The population of the Irish in America ranked second to the English during the colonial period. Many early Irish immigrants were Scotch-Irish and were quite influential. These immigrants moved out of Ireland due to religious conflicts, economic conditions, and lack of political independence. Immigrants moved to America with the hope of land ownership and greater religious freedom. Economic and religious reasons were the main cause of motivation for immigration.

Immigration was at an all time high during the colonial period and hence such people are known as immigrants. Air travel by jet was cheap and fairly inexpensive in the year 1965. This prompted people to travel to and from their country of their origin.


It Finally Happened! The Cold War is Back-With a Twist

Russian officials today announced that the arrest of a man attempting to sell weapons grade uranium. That's right, the type of uranium used in a nuclear bomb. In reply, American officials attempted to reassure the public by stating that the amount of uranium offered for sale was less than that required to create a nuclear warhead. It is of note that they did not deny that this was in fact weapons grade uranium.
